Fresh from his exclusive collaboration with UGG, artist Lil Nas X introduces us to the cozy and joyful mood of the Christmas holidays with a new capsule collection, this time with Coach.
Titled “The Lil Nas X Drop”, the edit consists of a series of comfortable ready-to-wear pieces and vibrant accessories that have been “selected and customized” by the rapper, who is a now well-known global ambassador for the brand.
Featuring an array of bright, acidic hues, the collection features electric blue and fuzzy pink bags alongside leather silhouettes, taking inspiration from ’90s rave culture, classic American archetypes and, last but not least, Lil Nas X’s style.
“Our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are,” said Coach creative director Stuart Vevers. “To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying color, texture and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share.”
Vevers collaborated with the singer to customize his selection of pieces for winter 2023 with graphics inspired by all facets of the artist’s identity.
The entire collection nods to Lil Nas X’s signature elements with a combination of bold designs and electric colors. Prints of his pet cats and his zodiac sign (Aries) decorate American t-shirts, bags and Varsity jackets. Also present are illustrations of Lil Nas X concert merchandise that appear on several items in the capsule. Other highlights of the collection are leather biker and sheepskin coats, paired with acetate sweatshirts and T-shirts that seem to “evoke rave culture”.
The collection’s campaign, which was created by Lil Nas X, as creative director, sees the artist posing with all the various items from the collection in a series of Y2K-inspired images, complete with props that recall that period.
The Lil Nas X Drop will be available for purchase on December 26th via Coach’s webstore.
