A new trend that we noticed both on the runways and on the street, is the maxi collar, that thanks to its simplicity and wearability it is a must-have for the new season. It’s the comeback of natural materials like cotton and linen, craftmanship and homemade. It’s like opening your grandmas closet and finding hidden gems that will make your autumn/winter closet more special.
Gucci took inspiration from old school uniforms from the 60s, with their maxi collar in lace, or in velvet, paired with a romantic skirt or elaborated gothic long dresses. A retro take that also adopted Alberta Ferretti, with her collar characterized by double ruches and ribbons on a puff sleeves shirt. Tory Burch opts for long pointed collars that reach the waist, and Moschino was inspired by the royal court of Marie Antoinette. While Erdem decorates the collars with embroideries and pearls, transforming them in a piece of jewellery or Valentino that use them to make even more special sophisticated long dresses.
