JW Anderson presented his Autumn/Winter 2024 women’s collection at London Fashion Week and once again the brand managed to leave the audience speechless.
For his latest fashion show, JW Anderson invited guests to the location of the Seymour Leisure Centre, a facility that offers a gym, swimming pool, fitness room and more.
Unusual choice? Maybe yes. But definitely fitting.
Described in the show notes as a “domestic fantasy,” the collection draws inspiration from the vibrant interiors of Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, bringing to the stage a soft, welcoming color palette on oversized, distorted silhouettes characteristic of JW Anderson.

Knitted dresses, English tweeds and trench coats, all twisted and manipulated with knotted details and drapes, evoked an quaint British-style grandma look.
A “perversely domestic” approach is in fact the basis of the collection, characterized by fabrics inspired by furniture, monochromatic design details and some deliberately paroxysmal elements such as the gray and curly wigs sported by some models during the fashion show.
To accentuate this slightly nostalgic, slightly destabilizing Grannycore aesthetic, each look was completed with a pair of slip-on house shoes, most featuring a warm shearling lining.
Among the oversized silhouettes of blazers with exaggerated shoulders and shirts with enormous sleeves, apparently classic looks came out but distorted by ribbons, fringes and tassels with brighter and more playful colors.

The incredible make-up too completed this refined interpretative work. The beauty looks of the show have the signature of MERIT, the beauty brand known for its minimalist and extremely essential approach. Thus, cold faces with intense red lips contrasting with dull gray wigs alternated with barely visible make-up made with glossy effect balms.
For this season, JW Anderson wanted to linger on the complexity of the meaning of his designs, also giving participants a short poem that introduces and describes the meaning of the entire collection. The same subsequently reported below a post published by the brand.
