Communicated like a bolt from the blue, the fashion news closes an extraordinary chapter for the Italian fashion house, which is now inevitably ready to write another. It is in fact with a concise press release that the Gruppo Aeffe (also owner of the Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Pollini brands) announced, without specifying particular causes, that Jeremy Scott will say goodbye to Moschino, after almost 10 years at the head of the creative direction of the brand.
Jeremy Scott joined the company in October 2013 and made his debut at the helm of Moschino with the autumn/winter 2014 collection. With his pop-camp style, cartoon graphics, logomania and languages borrowed from advertising campaigns, consumerism and mass communication’s worlds, the designer has been able to carry on the codes of the brand and the legacy of its founder.
The griffe founded by Franco Moschino in the 80s had redefined made in Italy fashion, making irreverence, irony and pop its trademarks.
After Franco’s death in 1994 and the artistic direction of Rossella Jardini from 1994 to 2013, the brand had found in Jeremy Scott what seemed to be its natural heir, the perfect interpreter of Moschino’s DNA capable of shaping and restoring life and vivacity to the imagery of the brand, always putting it in harmony with the contemporaneity. Constantly surrounded by Hollywood stars and celebrities full of personality, the designer has been able to deal with the fashion system in an easy-going, colorful and almost caricatured way. A less serious, less boring, but not less committed fashion.
“I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work with a creative force such as Jeremy Scott – commented Massimo Ferretti, President of AEFFE S.p.A. – I want to thank him for his ten-year commitment to the Maison Moschino and for having launched a distinctive and joy that will forever be part of the Moschino story.”
Now the Designer has also announced, surprisingly, the decision to change course through a shot shared on social media with Gigi Hadid dressed as a bride for the Spring-Summer 2019 fashion show, mentioning great news.
“After 10 years I am leaving Moschino. I had a blast making clothes that will live forever. I am grateful for all the love and support I have received this decade. now that I close this chapter, I can’t wait to reveal what I have in store for the future.
These 10 years at moschino have been a fantastic celebration of creativity and imagination. I’m really proud of the work I leave behind. I would like to thank Massimo Ferretti for giving me the honor of leading this iconic maison. I would also like to thank all my fans around the world who have celebrated me, my collections and my vision. Without you, none of what has been would have been possible.”
