It was the year 2017 when Virgil Abloh began the collaboration with the Nike brand. And since then, every news linked to this partnership has managed to delight millions of fans. And, just out of the news, this fantastic three-year journey is told in a book, ICONS. Virgil Abloh and Nike have co-signed, which will be published by the prestigious Taschen publishing house.
ICONS is a making-of of the mother of all collaboration sneakers, The Ten collection. Initially conceived as a collection consisting of only ten silhouettes, 5 “REVEALING” and 5 “GHOSTING,” over time, from ten, sneakers have become more than forty. In Abloh’s words, the book will represent a “printed documentary on the creative process.” A collection of unpublished photos, design sketches, notes, and personal memories gave life to the long collaboration between the Abloh brand, Off-White ™, and Nike.
And it looks like we will soon see a new capsule. The account specialized in leaks @py_rates has announced the arrival of a new collection renamed The Twenty, which presumably will follow in the footsteps of the legendary The Ten.

In announcing the book’s release on his Instagram account, Abloh also addressed a broader discourse on print printing culture. «This book is a catalog of images of my creative process that are not found on the Internet. This is precisely the beauty of books. […] I believe in print, and I believe that local bookstores are something vital. Small independent bookstores have always been hubs for the community and culture deserves to be supported».
The ICONS book is already available in several independent bookstores (none in Italy) scattered between Europe and the USA. The global release via Nike will take place on January 22nd.
