Sophisticated, romantic and punk: these are the key elements of the new Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 Chanel Haute Couture Collection, revealed yesterday July 7th with a digital presentation. Captured by the photographer Mikael Jansson, with 30 shots that highlight the beauty of the outfits, styled with the new Chanel High Jewelry line. What inspired the Creative Director of the brand Virginie Viard is the noble authority of the protagonists seen in the 19th-century paintings. A starting point that has the desire to show opulence and class, as revealed by the designer: “I was thinking about a punk princess coming out of Le Palace at dawn. With a taffeta dress, big hair, feathers and lots of jewelry,” Viard wrote in the notes accompanying the 30-look lineup. “This collection is more inspired by Karl Lagerfeld than Gabrielle Chanel. Karl would go to Le Palace, he would accompany these very sophisticated and very dressed up women, who were very eccentric too.”

A turning point from the latest collection that was simple and austere, inspired by Coco Chanel’s youth. Now for the upcoming winter, Chanel offers opulence and sparkles. Every Chanel’s atelier, including the Métiers d’Art in Lesage and Montex, worked on the collection, embroidering the outfits, mainly made in tweed with paillettes and elegant decorations.
