There are no references to the sport, but Burberry intends to redefine the link between man and nature through a new dialogue highlighting the importance of outdoor life more conceptually and authentically. The first collection of Riccardo Tisci menswear for the British Maison, refers to the spirit of adventure that pushes people to connect by opening new horizons in the name of expression.
«With my first Burberry men’s collection, I wanted to celebrate freedom of expression. During this time spent indoors, I dreamed of the beauty of open spaces, driven by the thought of creativity that arises when we have the opportunity to be together,» commented Riccardo Tisci, Burberry Chief Creative Officer.
The Fall 2021 fashion show is dynamic and young, vibrant, and alive. Outerwear is vital. The clothes are designed to reflect movement and activity, with pleats, panels, and fringes,
as if they moved in the wind. Multi-layered looks fit unexpectedly on the body. The brand codes, such as the trench coat and the Burberry beige, have evolved into a new perspective. The animal kingdom of Burberry, also one of the house codes, has been revisited with animal prints and shapes and garments in eco-fur.
The trench coat is combined with the Harrington jacket. Coats in cotton gabardine and wool twill are fringed and closed by silk foulard belts. Duffle coats are in striped wool with reconstructed pockets and cut silhouettes with ingot fringes and bold prints. Knitwear and outerwear come together in unexpected designs, like the V-neck of a sweater replicated on a trench coat. The jackets are made of plongé leather and cashmere cotton with the “B” logo. Shirt dresses and pleated skirts are meant for movement.
Among the accessories seen on the show a new messenger model man bag, whose silhouette features a strap reconstructed in a union of sartorial and hiking influences. The new leather sneakers feature molded soles sculpted to resemble deer clogs. The deer motif also inspires the shape of the knitted caps.
The shades of color range from classic Burberry beige to bark brown, blood burgundy, city grays, light blue, and pink. We find prints and patterns that pay homage to the world of nature, such as photographic images of furs. While, abstract and elementary works of art in bright colors alternate with the Thomas Burberry monogram in jacquard.
The Burberry fall/winter 2021 fashion show was set in the Regent Street boutique in London’s heart, for the occasion redesigned as a place to be explored.
