High fashion landed on Amazon. The e-commerce colossal just inaugurated Luxury Stores, a digital experience only available for Prime members on Amazon USA. Thought as a big luxury department store, each brand will have its own virtual section on the Amazon app. For the launch, the brand collaborated with Oscar de la Renta that offered the Prime members the possibility to buy the Pre-Autumn and Autumn/Winter 2020 collection before anyone else.
Each brand will have control over their inventory, the selection and the prices of their collections, and this will include big luxury names but also new designers and beauty brands. To increase the involvement in the shopping experience, Amazon created an interactive option that allows the user to view the clothes at 360°. At the moment is still in the beta phase, but will soon be extended to all the brands.
Amazon Luxury Stores at the moment is available only by invitation, but the intention is to extend the service at a wider slice of the public.
Don’t forget that the founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, became the richest man in the world with a net worth of 200 billion dollars.
