It was May 16th, 2000, when Britney Spears‘ second album, “Oops!…I Did It Again“ came out. The record became an instant success in the United States and sold 1.319.193 copies, the best debut made by a female artist, surpassed only by Adele in 2015. Only in the United States, “Oops!…I Did It Again” sold over 10 million copies (over 20 around the world). In Italy, the album kept its first position in the charts for thirteen weeks, a record that no one beat yet. And the songs are still sung and danced nowadays, by every generation, thanks to the power of social media such as Tik Tok.

But not only the song remains iconic: we all remember the red skin-tight latex jumpsuit wore by the singer in the music video, inspired by NASA’s spacesuits. Created in just one night by the costume designer Michael Bush, that already worked on Britney’s tour outfits, and commissioned by the it-stylist of the early 2000s, Estee Stanley. A challenge that was weirdly accepted with enthusiasm by Britney, if we think about that latex is quite an uncomfortable material to wear, especially for dance routines. But all that suffering was definitely worth it!
