It’s been a year since Demna Gvasalia left Vetements saying that his work with the brand was now over. Many argued that there was something more behind his decision, and now we have the confirmation. On the Vetements Instagram profile, now managed by his brother, Guram Gvasalia was posted a picture showing side by side a 2019 t-shirt by the brand compared to a 2020 long-sleeve t-shirt by Balenciaga, which are almost identical. The caption is quite specific “WTF”.
The two brands for years had the same aesthetic with which Demna revolutionized the fashion industry, transforming the ugly in beauty. This was since they had the same Creative Director, but now we’re talking about real competition. Is this a real shade towards Demna or another troll?
