PARIS HAUTE COUTURE GOES DIGITAL

It’s now official that the Haute Couture Fashion Week 2020 goes aheadbut only online. The confirmation comes from the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode that is working on a digital platform dedicated to the Haute Couture presentations, from July 6th until July 18th 2020. For the first time in the long history of the event that started in Paris in 1850, the event goes digital. The Paris Haute Couture Week will anticipate the Menswear Paris Fashion Week (9-13 July 2020) and the Menswear Milan Fashion Week (14-17 July 2020). The videos of the fashion shows on the schedule will be hosted online, with exclusive content from behind the scenes.


Due to the recent changes in schedule in the fashion system, we can’t help but ask who’s going to participate. 16 authorized members can participate in the Haute Couture Fashion Week, such as ChanelChristian DiorJean-Paul Gaultier, and Maison Margiela. Then different international brands that managed to gain their spot, like Armani PrivéAzzedine AlaïaElie SaabFendiValentinoVersace e Viktor & Rolf. And then the independent Haute Couture brands, from Iris van Herpen to Guo Pei, for a total of 41 fashion houses that can have accesses to the Digital Paris Haute Couture Week. We already know that Chitose Abe (Sacai), that is working on his first collection for Jean Paul Gaultier will showcase everything in January; Balenciaga that should have debuted his first-ever Haute Couture collection had to post-pone everything; Giorgio Armani already announced that he will present his Armani Privé collection in Milan next year in January, while Valentino confirmed a special event for July but we don’t know yet if they will be part of the Paris Fashion Week.
