In her press tour for Challengers, Zendaya continues to amaze with her winning shots: tennis inspired red carpet looks.
If you thought that after the epochal Barbie-core symbolized by the beautiful Margot Robbie, no other film could launch a new trend, you’ll have to think again. It seems that Zendaya, the protagonist of Luca Guadagnino‘s film, is charting a new route: that of “Tennis-core”.
Even though Challengers is scheduled for release at the end of April, the film is already shaping up to be one of the most stylish productions of 2024. The reason? The costumes are entrusted to the expert hands of JW Anderson, the same hands that are taking care of the actors’ red carpet looks under the Loewe brand. Especially Zendaya’s.

Film press tours are always an excellent opportunity to admire the promotional looks of the stars. But it’s a whole different game when actors wear a single designer both on and off camera.
Already from the trailer and the contents that Anderson himself and the director have published on Instagram we can deduce what an important and meticulous role fashion plays in this film.
Furthermore, Anderson’s participation in a production of this magnitude represents an incredible boost for the designer in his burgeoning and decidedly underrated career as a costume designer.
Anderson’s Challengers costumes promise a world of sumptuous basics and stylized athleisure, where crisp polos, collegiate sweaters, pleated shorts and vareuse sweaters coexist in elegant harmony. Anderson also includes some on-court apparel from his friends at UNIQLO to further integrate his worlds.

Experts eyes have already noticed that in Anderson’s work for Challengers there are all the aspects that distinguish his creativity. In fact, the designer’s ability consists in always managing to merge the imaginative component of his garments with their commercial attractiveness, their saleability.
The red carpet looks proposed by Anderson during the promotion of the film are no less worth it.
At the first Australian premiere on March 26, Challenger stars Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor all wore bespoke LOEWE suits.
Zendaya recently upped the ante in another custom LOEWE look: a sparkly tennis dress complete with tennis ball-impaling stilettos stilettos.
In case the topic of the film was not clear, now you certainly have no more excuses!
