The opening of New York Fashion Week deserves an exuberant and glamorous celebration, and Saks knows it well.
On the evening of Wednesday, 8 February, the historic American department store brand, thanks to the communication team’s exceptional effort guided by the Head of Public Relations Lauren Picciano, kicked off the fashion week with its usual inauguration party, held a few blocks from the fifth Avenue flagship, precisely in the exclusive underground jazz club of Aman New York Hotels.
The CEO Marc Metrick and the actress Emma Roberts were the hosts of the evening, characterized by the presence of some of the best-known personalities of the American jet set. First of all, pop star Charli XCX performed some of her most famous classics, like the 2017 hit “Boys.” and other songs from her 2022 album Crash, like “Beg For You” and “Good Ones.”
Joining her was New Orleans rapper and Beyoncé collaborator Big Freedia, known for her work on the song “Formation” from the Lemonade album and new track “Break My Soul” (from “Reinassence”).
The two singers lit the party, inciting people to “shake their as**s” to the rhythm of their most famous songs, between champagne fountains and super stylish and dazzling looks.
The English pop star arrived in a total denim look by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, consisting of a pleated skirt minidress with two front vents, decorated with the allover LdSS motif and paired with a denim biker jacket and knee-length black lace-up boots. The “1999” singer completed the ensemble with a black handbag, futuristic sunglasses, silver hoop earrings, and very intense smokey makeup.

Also in attendance were DJ Alice Longyu Gao, New York rapper Princess Nokia, Italian entrepreneur Maria Vittoria Cusumano, Ezra William, and “Emily in Paris” costars Paul Forman and Ashley Park.

The party hosted not only celebrities from the jet set and social media but also revolutionary and avant-garde artists, who are an integral part of the creative and cultural heritage that makes the city of NY unique. In addition to the creative directors of the great American fashion houses, Laura Kim of Oscar de la Renta and Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera, many emerging designers were present, including Alejandra Alonso Rojas, LaQuan Smith, Alexandra O’Neill and Jonathan Simkhai, who took part in the event to discuss their upcoming presentations.
At the end of this wild “opening ceremony,” all that remains is to enjoy the best of the NYFW runways.
