The French brand led by Anthony Vaccarello has just unveiled its latest campaign, which definitely couldn’t go unnoticed.

In these frenetic days of Paris Fashion Week, Saint Laurent did not take to the catwalk, but rather preferred to give us a preview of his new men’s fall winter 2024 collection, through shots that could be defined as “museum-worthy” and a hypnotic short film.

The debut of the campaign, created in collaboration with the British photographer Glen Luchford, took place today on the brand’s social channels and is literally a tribute to the sensuality and artisticity of bodies. The male ones in particular. The campaign also includes some models wearing predominantly veiled and tailored looks, harmoniously combined with male nudes.

The fashion house described the highly stylized images of the campaign as “tableaus that pay homage to the scenes created by the masters, from Michelangelo and Caravaggio to Édouard Manet”.

In fact, the more or less explicit artistic references to works such as “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” by Manet, recreated with a group of models whose bodies dressed in the clothes from the collection created contrast with the naked ones of other boys, are very suggestive. Models with gentle features and thick curly hair also recall the typical Caravaggio subjects.

But modern art is not the only protagonist of the campaign, which in fact welcomes various influences from the world of cinema, citing the visual languages of 20th century directors such as Luchino Visconti and Pier Paolo Pasolini.

“Their audacious works were deemed controversial by those who failed to understand their intention, in actuality the auteurs were intelligently addressing troubling events of the recent past to help avoid history from repeating itself,” added Saint Laurent, who recently rediscovered his interest and involvement in film production.

The looks of the new collection appear in these tableaus full of visual references, sensuality and contradictions. Vaccarello built his autumn men’s collection taking inspiration from the beauty of contrasts: strong silhouettes combined with soft, feminine fabrics such as georgette and satin.

Those who know the designer’s biography will immediately notice the unusually introspective and reflective tones of the images. There is, in fact, a lot of Yves in this Campaign.

The unconditional love for art, aesthetic forms and cinema was an extremely well-known trait of the young designer.

According to Saint Laurent, the allusions to famous paintings match founder Yves Saint Laurent’s “lifelong embrace of art, a pursuit he compared to chasing ‘aesthetic ghosts.’”
