In celebration of the highly anticipated release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, the Barbiecore trend has sparked a multitude of collaborations and pink-themed products that have been released every day over the last few months by countless brands. From cosmetics, to clothing up to even home decorations.
Nike is no less and its latest Barbie-themed proposal could be among the best of the season. The sportswear giant, which was already riding the hype wave with the reveal of a pair of Air Max Scorpions definitely inspired by the iconic protagonist of Mattel, is about to release another pair of sneakers.
This time it’s the Dunk Low model, totally redesigned in Barbie aesthetics, flamboyant and Fancy at the right point.
The new sneaker features a faded pink suede base, complete with faded star motifs to the midfoot. The shoe features other decidedly catchy details such as the satin silver swoosh on the sides, the additional shocking pink leather linings that surround the shoe and above all the special glittery pendants in the shape of a silver “N” in full view on the front of the sneaker. Impossible not to notice that these mega charms, placed both on the left and on the right shoe, have a graphic style and font that explicitly mentions that of the Barbie logo.
In addition to the starry background, the design is completed by the characteristic label on the tongue and the translucent pink sole with glitter that definitively confirms the Barbie-themed look of the sneaker.
While no official release dates have been announced yet, we expect the release of this Dunk Low and other Nike sneakers dedicated to the pinkest theme of the year to hit shelves in the coming weeks via Nike and select retailers. Since the film has only been released in theaters for a few days, something suggests that the wait will be relatively short and that Barbie-style sneakers are preparing to be one of the most popular trends this summer.
