Optimus, the first humanoid robot, could already be produced in 2023. So said Tesla’s Elon Musk.
The futuristic robot was first revealed at the company’s AI Day in August 2021 and was designed to eliminate “dangerous, repetitive and tedious tasks” for humans. During his recent presentation at the Cyber Rodeo event in Texas, Musk revealed his further plans: “We have a chance to be in production for version one of Optimus, hopefully, next year.”
With 5 feet and 7 inches, the robot is designed to be “safe.” Musk made it clear that safety is the most important factor. “No Terminator stuff or anything like that. To ensure that it will not be able to overwhelm humans, the robot is designed to be weaker and slower.”
