Loewe celebrates one of the most emblematic and iconic figures of the 70s camp culture, the drag queen Divine. “Divine, alias Harris Glenn Milstead, was an extraordinary person. He lived an intense life as a man, performer and character. To me is the incarnation of auto-determination,” says Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Loewe. The limited-edition capsule collection includes three T-Shirts and a Cushion Tote Bag, which graphics is inspired by Divine, like the famous quote “THE FILTHIEST PERSON ALIVE”.
Loewe doesn’t stop here. To celebrate the drag community and Divine, thanks to the collaboration of the Divine Official Enterprises LLC., the brand launched a digital exhibition that will showcase the story of the drag queen throughout her personal objects and photos shot by the legendary Greg Gorman. They also recreated some of the most iconic outfit worn by Divine, like the famous white Pink Flamingos dress and the leather plateau heels.
Loewe also made a big donation to the Baltimore Pride, a no-profit organization that supports the LGBTQ+ community and will donate the 15% of the collection’s proceeds to the Visual AIDS, an organization that supports the HIV/AIDS research throughout the arts, supporting artists affected by HIV and celebrate them. The limited-edition capsule collection from today, June 25th on Loewe.com and their Greene Street store in New York.
