With the first live fashion show since the lockdown, Etro presented the new Menswear Spring/Summer 2021 and Womenswear Resort collections, in the garden of the Hotel Four Seasons in Milan. The brand tried their best to make it as safe as possible, by providing sanitizing gel and facemasks and surprised their guest with a beautiful show, live music that wanted to pay homage to Ennio Morricone.
“We want to highlight that we are a family, that Etro is a family living in a world of joie de vivre, colour and positivity,” Kean e Veronica Etro said in a statement. “This season, we want to bring to the stage real clothes for real people, discovering a new authenticity. Just what we like, what we think is absolutely relevant, what makes us feel good. Nothing more than this”.
The new Etro Menswear Spring/Summer 2021 and Womenswear Resort 2021 collections inspired by travelling, as a journey without a destination. Something that we all desire after months of lockdown that left us stuck at home. The menswear and womenswear looks are connected by the same prints, from striped to Madras and the iconic Paisley, that are featured on the shirts, deconstructed two-piece suits and the dresses. The ties reinterpreted from the archives complete the sartorial dresses, while the jacquard cardigan synched at the waist are paired with plissé skirts. The denim shirts and the jackets in suede are decorated with different inserts, the boxer shorts and light sporty jackets present a floral camouflage print. The accessories match the aesthetic of the collection, from big tote bags to briefcases decorated with the Paisley print. Then during the fashion show, we also had a preview of the new ETRO x CARRERA COLLECTORS EDITION.
In line with the commitment of the brand toward sustainability, the new Etro collections are made with different eco-friendly materials and reworked fabrics from their archives thanks to the upcycling technique. They’re recognizable from the special tag BENETROESSERE, these pieces include the patchwork jeans, reworked jackets, while the shirts and polo are made with eucalyptus fibres and a special fabric obtained with recycled plastic bottles.
