Here I am back from Monaco, which is basically going to become my second home for the next season. As a matter of fact even this year I’ve had the honour to be invited to the Golden Foot award. On this occasion every year through a super exclusive ceremony they award football players who are at least 28 year old and who distinguished themselves thanks to their successes on the football field, both from a technical and human point of view.
Everything was perfect, just as always, thanks to the incredible sensitivity and professionalism of the two organizers, Fabio Poggioli and Martina Martullo, who managed to make my stay comfortable and special. In Nice we were welcomed by an helicopter ready to set off for Monte Carlo, to get to the super-luxurious Fairmont Hotel, whose very welcoming structure is able to satisfy any sort of desire. On the following day we were incredibly relaxed and ready for the ceremony that took place in the Meridien Hotel. Next to the hosts Mino Taveri and Eleonora Pedron there was Pierre Casiraghi, who has personally handed the awards to the football legends of 2017: the great trainer Roberto Mancini who is today the manager of Zenit Saint Petersburg and used to be a football player (one of the best number 10 in the history of Italian football).
And then Oliver Kahn, among the best goalkeepers of all time; Li Ming, former player and now trainer for the Under 20 Chinese national team, the legendary bomber Michael Owen and finally Marcel Desailly, world champion and glory of the French team. And so we finally get to this edition’s winner: the Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who was awarded by fans as the best player of 2017 Golden Foot. Let me spend some words about this man and his beautiful wife Sara Carbonero.
Seeing them together was moving. She’s full of savoir faire and one of the most fascinating women I’ve ever met. Eyes like stars in the night, the attitude of an Egyptian queen, real and honest beauty and a touch of shyness and modesty that make it all even more fascinating and rare. Just think that at the beginning she didn’t even want to get on stage next to her husband. Then she found the courage and smiled brightly. He is very kind and caring: he always knew where she was in the room, never left her hand and kept looking at her with tenderness. On a human point of view this Golden Foot edition was particularly rich. As a matter of fact, during the gala I’ve ad the pleasure to sit next to exquisite people: Roberto Mancini and his sons Camilla and Andrea, a sweet and funny man, lovely father and pleasant dining companion; just like Marcel Desailly. He also was there with his sons and he is a wonderful person whom I appreciated for his simplicity and kindness. A great table.
On the occasion I was wearing an evening gown by my beloved Atelier Emé, a luxurious long black dress, full with train, that for the entire time made me feel like a wonderful nightly siren, thanks to its sensual line, its transparencies and its embroideries. Precious, simple and sensual. I couldn’t hope for a better dress for this princess night. Nights like this only happen once a year.
