Nike’s ongoing lawsuit over StockX’s Vault NFT collection is enriched with new disputes and complaints after Nike claimed to have purchased fake Jordan sneakers on the StockX website.
In March, the brand filed a lawsuit against StockX for the Vault NFT collection, which included a selection of digital renderings of coveted sneakers such as the sacai x KAWS x Nike Blazer Low and pieces from Bad Bunny’s Adidas collaboration.
Nike itself acquired footwear company NFT RTFKT in 2021 and therefore allegedly sees StockX as a danger selling digital “bootlegs” of trademarked Nike shoes.
The lawsuit escalated on May 10, when Nike’s lawyers filed a document in court stating that Nike wanted to strengthen its allegations against StockX.
Nike is not content with simply eliminating StockX’s NFT collection and targeting what it calls “StockX’s counterfeit business.”
In its memorandum, Nike claims to have purchased four pairs of fake Jordan sneakers from StockX “within a two-month period,” including a pair of Jordan 1 “Chicago” bootleg shoes that correspond to one of the NFTs sold through StockX’s Vault NFT program.
All that remains is to wait for the reaction of the reselling giant
